Reception-Only Package — Couple's Checklist

Everything to think through before you book, so there are no surprises on the big day.

⏱️ Time & Schedule

  • Is 4 hours enough? Count dinner service, toasts, first dance, cake, and open dancing before you trim hours.
  • Know the venue's cutoff. Your clock starts at your start time — not when dancing begins.
  • Ask the overtime rate up front, before the party is rolling and you need it.
  • Build in buffer time for dinner running late or a long toast lineup.

🎤 What's Included

  • Is an MC included? Announcements, introductions, toasts, and timeline wrangling are a separate skill from mixing.
  • Sound coverage — will the system fill your room? Confirm guest count vs. speaker setup.
  • Second system? Ask if cocktail hour or an outdoor area needs its own speakers.
  • Planning meeting — every Tj The Dj reception package includes one to lock your timeline and music list.

🎵 Music & MC

  • Must-plays & do-not-plays — agree on the list in advance. 10–15 "must hear" songs beat "play good stuff."
  • Send exact song versions for first dance, parent dances, and special moments (live vs. studio cut matters).
  • Set request rules — all guest requests honored, or the playlist stays on course?
  • Announcement style — formal intros, laid-back vibe, or somewhere between?

🏛️ Venue & Logistics

  • Power & placement — where does the DJ set up? Close to the dance floor, dry, with an outlet?
  • Noise rules — outdoor or rural venues may have decibel cutoffs. Confirm compliance.
  • Insurance — some venues require the DJ's liability certificate. Ask for it early.
  • Load-in window — is setup/teardown time included, or does the clock start at doors?
